I am the newest member of the Human Resource Team at Inspire HQ.
Was it daunting to leave my previous workplace after 11 years? Yes.
Did I make the right change? Absolutely!
My HR career started back in 2007 at IBM where I specialised in recruitment and training. I was keen to broaden my knowledge and expertise so I decided to join the Emergency Services Telecommunication Authority (ESTA – 000) in 2009 where I worked in learning and development. It was here that I developed a growing desire to pursue a more generalist HR role.
As a result, I hit the books and went back to study, completing a Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management at RMIT. I continued working full time whilst studying the masters level subjects, which happened to be right in the midst of COVID. All whilst managing a team remotely and working from home, coupled with teenagers studying from home was certainly no easy feat. I would be up most nights until 11pm and my weekends were filled with study as I chased those high distinctions. Graduating was the most incredible feeling and one I couldn’t have done without the support of my family.
Not long after completing my studies, an amazing opportunity came my way with Inspire HQ as a HR Strategist. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to work with local businesses within the Ballarat and surrounding areas to provide them with HR support and guidance. The businesses supported by Inspire HQ are all experts in their own fields ranging from construction, manufacturing and retail, to medicine and mining just to name a few. These businesses engage us for our expert HR advice and services, which allows them to focus on the things that they do best.
My passion for employment law allows me to support our clients so that they know their rights, obligations, and responsibilities within the employer-employee relationship; from wages and workplace safety, to discrimination and wrongful termination.
I genuinely love helping others and pride myself on building effective relationships with clients and their employees. I have the ability to accurately understand my clients’ business operations and objectives, which allows me to consistently deliver tailored HR solutions to meet my client’s needs.
Early in my career I managed multiple retail businesses, worked in the tourism and hospitality sectors on Hamilton Island and Uluru, then made my way home to Ballarat. With my breadth of industry experience, I understand and appreciate the need for attracting and retaining the best talent in a business to be able to build great workplaces. Committed to promoting workplace diversity, I have experience in implementing strategies to ensure employees are provided with a safe workplace free from discrimination.
Helping employees discover their strengths and motivating them to be the best they can be, gets me out of bed each day. I love guiding and developing employees, shaping them into our next future leaders by giving them the skills and tools they need to not just develop themselves, but also to see things in a way they haven’t thought of before.
I am very proud of my achievements and the doors that have opened during my HR career; working with artificial intelligence alongside highly skilled performance coaches to improve performance outcomes in Ambulance dispatch times, which has the ability to save lives and lead to more positive patient outcomes. The implementation of innovative solutions such as designing and having micro-eLearning packages created to support interactive on point training solutions. Being part of an award-winning team, where the team at ESTA won the Large Employer of the year at the Victorian Training Awards in 2019 and being runner up for the Large Employer of the year at the Australian Training Awards, also in 2019, has certainly been a huge highlight of my career.
I’m excited for my future with Inspire HQ and I can’t wait to work with more of our clients!
