How you bring a new staff member into your business will impact how quickly they become productive and how long they stay. In fact a study by Texas Instruments found “employees who went through an improved onboarding program were fully productive two months faster than employees in a traditional program.” Running them through your induction checklist and handing over a stack of company policies, does not make them feel welcome or excited about joining your team. Yes we need to cover the basics, but beyond that each new staff member is different, with different needs. So why would we put them through a one-size-fits-all sausage onboarding machine?
