Ballan Local Butchers are a community focused family owned and operated business who are looking to ‘meat’ an experienced butcher to join their growing team. Ballan Local Butcher has a “paddock to plate” or “farm to fork” business model and their mission is to be the best butcher for quality locally grown product while delivering a high level of service in an ethical and sustainable manner. Shazam Lamb is their signature quality product and is raised on their pastoral farms in central and western Victoria and is regarded as the highest and most consistent quality premium lamb on the market. 

Depending on what you’re looking for in a Butcher role, whether it be chatting with the local customers and helping them pick their meat or if you prefer to let your knife do all the talking and prefer being behind the scenes, we have the flexibility to tailor this role to ensure your job satisfaction.

Your key tasks will include:

  • Cutting meat for presentation in displays and packaging meat ready for sale
  • Cutting and preparing meat for orders
  • Taking orders, serving customers and assisting with enquires
  • Making sausages and other value add products including marinating and pickling
  • Breaking down bodies and birds in preparation for slicing

Providing an exceptional customer experience is essential in this role and regardless of if you are serving the customer or are behind the scenes, Ballan Local Butchers are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic individual who thrives in a team environment. You’ll like to work hard but have fun at the same time and you will take great pride in your work. It’s your attitude, motivation and work ethic that will see you succeed at Ballan Local Butchers. You will have previous butcher experience however if you lack experience in some areas of the above responsibilities, we are willing to train. Trade qualifications are not essential.

You will be rewarded with above award rates and we are able to offer flexible start and finish times to suit your lifestyle. Overtime and weekend work is on offer but not a requirement.
