Child & Family Services Ballarat (CAFS) is a community service organisation that provides a range of programs and services to children, young people and families who are vulnerable or in need of support. CAFS has a long history of supporting families within the Ballarat region and currently have casual and part time opportunities available for Residential Care Workers to work within their purpose built Residential Care houses or the young people’s homes.
You do not have to hold an existing qualification to be successful with these roles. A willingness to top up your current qualification or commence and complete a Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) within 12 months of starting in the role, will provide you with a pathway to change the direction of your career. You will need to hold a current Level 2 First Aid and CPR qualification prior to commencing in these roles.
Working as part of a close-knit team, Residential Care Workers are responsible for:
- Providing high quality, professional care to ensure the wellbeing for children and young people who reside in residential care houses or 1:1 shifts with clients in a hotel or their own home
- Conducting daily domestic duties including menu planning, cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping
- Transporting young people using a CAFS vehicle to various locations including school, appointments, shopping, camps and family visits
- Accurately completing all relevant documentation for young people including reports, medication sheets and case notes
- Assisting with conflict resolution and fostering positive relationships between clients
