Achieving a healthy and sustainable relationship between the natural environment and the community’s use of land and water resources is the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority’s (CMA) vision. Their projects help combat degradation caused by pest plants and animals, habitat loss, dryland salinity, decline in flows and water quality of waterways, and erosion. They also help develop and preserve the natural values of the area. Glenelg Hopkins CMA is regarded as a leader in the industry, as recognized through winning the Australian Riverprize in 2013 and a number of other national awards.
The Senior Manager – Natural Resource Management Planning is responsible for leading a team to develop strategies, secure investment and deliver programs for biodiversity and waterway management. Reporting to the Executive Manager – Waterways and Biodiversity, you will play a key role in the CMA’s leadership team, while leading, developing and empowering your team members.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
Leadership and Team Management: Providing strategic leadership, initiating strategic and process innovation and continuous improvement, building and supporting a positive, high performing business culture to drive performance outcomes.
Technical and Strategic Advice: Lead and contribute to the development of strategy and plans that integrate actions to achieve outcomes, share advice and technical expertise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Investment Planning: Identify funding and investment opportunities, plan and develop bids and funding applications aligned to strategic objectives.
Relationships and Partnerships: Foster and maintain strong, productive relationships and partnerships to facilitate and deliver projects. Present, discuss and seek advice on matters in a variety of community, regional, state and national forums.
Governance and Financial Management: Contribute to and ensure effective corporate governance, risk management and financial management.
You will be an experienced people leader who has a background in coaching, mentoring and enhancing a high performance culture. Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline (Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management) coupled with a proven background in Natural Resource Management are essential and you will have expertise in technical writing and/or writing funding applications. Strategic thinking, innovating, relationship building and problem solving will come naturally to you. A key driver of your success will be your outward focus on achieving outcomes while maintaining a high level of internal accountability.
