Team Leader Carer Recruitment and Support

Wellbeing, safety and respect for all children and families is the Cafs (Child and Family Services) vision. An independent, community owned and governed not-for-profit with no religious affiliations, Cafs provide services throughout the Ballarat, Hepburn, Moorabool, Ararat, Golden Plains and Pyrenees regions. Delivering a comprehensive range of programs to support children, families and individuals, their key services focus on early help and prevention, targeted support and ongoing assistance.

Due to growth and positive change in the way Cafs deliver client outcomes, they have an opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to lead and manage a small team in the recruitment and support of Foster Carers and the support of Kinship Carers. In this hands-on role you’ll ensure there is a strong focus on carer assessment and monitoring, while remaining child centered.

Your key deliverables will be to:

  • Develop strategies to identify and expand the pool of carers across all programs
  • Lead the recruitment and training of carers including undertaking carer assessments in line with the relevant standards
  • Engage with and support carers to ensure the quality care of children and young people
  • Ensure program objectives and targets are delivered, compliance standards and regulations are adhered to and reporting and data requirements are maintained
  • Provide regular and effective supervision to all direct reports

To be considered for this position, a Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology or relevant field along with extensive hands on experience in the welfare sector is required. You will be able to demonstrate previous experience in leading and managing people and well developed skills in influencing, advocating and decision making. The ability to consider activities, decisions and outcomes from the perspective of the client; coupled with accountability, well-developed problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach are all key attributes for success in this role.
