Finding your work Mojo in 2015

Ange Connor

Suffering from the post-holiday blues? Can’t seem to find your work mojo as you try and ease back in to work for another year? Don’t panic, the post-holiday blues are not uncommon and here at Inspire HQ we have some great ideas to help you find your work mojo quick smart!

  • Make sure your life is in balance – It will be near impossible to get your mojo back at work if you haven’t got your personal mojo in sync. Take some time out to work out what’s missing from your life right now and make the time to get back to doing the things you love and make you happy.
  • Set yourself some goals – It’s pretty much impossible for your mojo to be firing if you’re lacking direction. Get some work and career goals down on paper and get started on putting the stepping stones in place to achieving them. We recommend making sure you focus on SMART goals: Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound
  • New challenges – Having a new challenge, task or project to work on will help give you a new focus and improve motivation. Chat to your manager about what new project or task you can take responsibility for. Not only will this help you get your mojo back, you’ll be developing new skills and demonstrating your positive and proactive attitude in the workplace – this can only be a win-win for your career!
  • Mentoring – Getting a mentor or being a mentor is full of inspiration. Talk to your manager about mentoring a junior staff member in your team. You’ll be able to share your knowledge, and expertise while helping them to develop their skills and career – what could be more rewarding! Having a mentor will also help you get your mojo back. Check out my blog on the benefits of a mentor for more info.
  • Focus on what you’re good at – You’ll have much more success getting your mojo back if you focus on what you’re good at instead of getting bogged down in those tasks that are challenging, don’t come naturally to you or you don’t enjoy. While you can’t simply not do those tasks at all, they will be easier and more enjoyable to complete if you break them up throughout your day and do the things that you enjoy and are good at in between.

And if you’re still struggling to get your mojo back, when all else fails, start planning your next holiday! Having your next holiday locked in will give you something to look forward to and something to save for.
