After a significant period of uncertainty regarding casual employment, the Fair Work Act 2009 has been amended to change workplace rights and obligations. The changes came into effect on Saturday 27th March 2021 and provide clarity around the definition of a casual employee, casual double-dipping and casual conversion.
These changes require employers to make some changes to how they are currently managing their existing casual employees, as well as when recruiting new casual team members.
