Minimum Wage & Award Rises 2022

Following the Annual Wage Review 2022, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) has made 2 announcements:

  • The National Minimum Wage will increase by 5.2%. The new hourly minimum wage will be set at $21.38 per hour
  • Award minimum wages will increase by 4.6%, for employees earning over $869.60 per week.
    The minimum Award wages for employees earning below $869.60 per week will increase $40 per week. This is based on 38 hours per week for a full-time employee.

This increase will apply to most industries from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2022.

Award increases for the following industries will be in effect from 1 October 2022:

  • Aviation industry
  • Tourism industry
  • Hospitality industry
